Summary List
Versace Fragrances Ranked by Cologne Critic
Why we chose it
Versace Man Eau Fraiche is a wonderful aquatic offering from the house of Versace.
Aquatics, usually fresh and invigorating, is best suited to the summer months as they contain citrus and sea accords, which are much lighter and appropriate for the warmer weather.
Eau Fraiche opens with a burst of citrus, featuring lemon and bergamot. Versace has combined the citrus with beautiful floral notes of rosewood and rose to deliver a truly pleasant cologne.
We love Eau Fraîche for its versatility as it can be worn by the younger gentleman or, the more mature, sophisticated man.
Eau Fraiche is also incredibly affordable, so if you’re looking for something inexpensive to chuck in your gym bag or to keep as a back up in the office, Ear Fraiche is perfect.
The aquatic notes make it an excellent choice for a day at the beach or for lounging around the pool.

Our Take
Versace Eros is one of the most popular colognes in the Versace collection, especially amongst the younger crowd who describe this as the perfect ‘going-out’ scent.
Versace Eros is energetic and youthful, which is why it’s a perfect choice for a wild night out with friends. Women are magnetically drawn to this cologne, and it received a 5/5 from the ladies in our office during our testing.
We love Eros for its minty fresh aroma, wearing this you smell incredibly clean and fresh, ready for whatever the night throws at you. If you’re a fan of Paco Rabanne’s 1 Million, you’ll definitely be a fan of Eros.
Combined with the mint are gorgeous notes of apple and lemon, giving off a fruity, citrus vibe.
The best thing about Eros is its performance. Incredibly long-lasting, this will leave you smelling fresh all evening. Relatively affordable, Eros also gives incredible value for money.

Our Take
The ultimate in casual cologne offerings, Blue Jeans is a wonderful oriental/woody cologne that many of us would have tried in our younger years.
A classic, masculine cologne, this is a true all-rounder, as it can be worn all year round, day or night. If you’re not a huge fragrance collector and just looking for a versatile cologne to add to your gym locker, Blue Jeans is a timeless choice.
So how does it smell? Blue Jeans is woody, citrusy and spicy all at once. Featuring main notes of lavender, vanilla and bergamot, Blue Jeans gives off a youthful vibe, so it’s better suited to the younger gentleman.
The most significant selling point for Blue Jeans is its affordability. A bottle can be picked up relatively cheaply, which makes it an ideal, everyday choice.

Our Take
Pour Homme is a wonderfully uplifting scent which many compare to Chanel’s Allure Homme Sport. However, if you’re not a fan of Chanel’s quite heady and dense cologne, you may prefer Pour Homme as it gives off a much lighter vibe on the skin.
The top notes of lemon, neroli and bergamot are the main characters behind the refreshing scent, while it settles into something undeniably masculine in the base where tonka, musk and amber take over.
If you’re looking for a clean, just out of the shower eau de toilette, Pour Homme is a great choice. The refreshing and zesty cologne lends itself to the summer months. We see this as a perfect choice for an after the gym cologne, as it certainly has the ability to revitalize and refresh, after a hard work out.
Main Accords
- Citrus
- Aromatic
- Fresh Spicy
Our Take
The Dreamer by Versace is a very divisive cologne, people either love it or hate it.
A somewhat unusual combination of floral accords and tobacco, Dreamer is incredibly potent. While we appreciate the juxtaposition between these two very different notes, others simply think they don’t work well together.
Starting sweet, the tobacco shines through in the base to what some describe as a fresh pack of cigarettes.
The popularity of this cologne in the ’90s will give a sense of nostalgia for those that may remember it from their youth. Definitely unique, it’s best worn by a charismatic, strong-minded gentleman who doesn’t mind standing out in a crowd.
Given the difference in opinion the Dreamer generates, we wouldn’t suggest wearing this to the office or on a first date. Instead, wear this for lounging around at home, working on creative projects. Dreamer definitely has the ability to inspire!

Our Take
Oud Noir was first released by Versace in 2013. Classed as a true gentleman’s fragrance, this is a perfect choice for the sophisticated, professional man.
Now this scent is not your stereotypical Versace cologne, so if you’re looking for something a bit different, Oud Noir is a great choice. From the outset, you’re hit with a beautiful blend of soft spices which settle to give a smoky and woody aroma.
Fans of the fragrance describe it as ‘comforting’ due to its warm layers of spice, leather and of course the luxurious Oud.
For some, oud can be a divisive scent, so make sure you grab a sample before you commit.
Some complain about its staying power, while others state its incredibly long-lasting. It seems that your body chemistry will have a significant effect on how well this cologne performs, so your mileage may vary.
If you like Tom Ford’s Oud Wood, you’re bound to love Oud Noir as many state the similarities. However, given the difference in price between the two, Versace is great value for money.

Our Take
L’Homme is one of Versace’s originals. First launched in 1986 it has a long history and an even longer list of fans! If you’re after a timeless classic scent, L’Homme is a worthy choice.
Starting out with a lemony citrus burst with a touch of ginger, the cologne develops into a much more comforting centre of cedar and sandalwood. The base contains notes of leather and oak moss for a classy and masculine finish.
The downside of L’Homme is that some find this cologne a little overpowering, so go easy on the application. For this reason, we advise using it in office environments where someone may take offence towards such a strong smelling cologne.
Instead, pair this with your best brown leather shoes and blue denim for a casual evening dinner with a loved one. Best worn during the colder months of autumn and winter.

Gianni Versace began his career in Italy as an apprentice to his mother’s dressmaking business. Showing unique flair and talent in design, it wasn’t long before he established himself as a freelance designer.
At the age of 25, Versace began working for some of the biggest fashion houses in Italy, designing their centrepieces to much praise. In 1978, Versace founded the fashion brand we know and love today with his brother. In the same year, he launched his very first women’s collection, which was a roaring success.
The rest, as they say, is history, and today, Versace is synonymous with high-end, couture wear for the younger crowd.
Well, this is a difficult question to answer, as it comes down to personal preference. What we do know is that Versace offers some really great colognes, and these colognes would do well in most men’s collections.
The popularity and affordability of Versace colognes mean they are accessible for most men. After spending time reading our reviews, go out and sample a few before making your purchase.
Young or old, Versace has a suitable cologne for you. If you’re not yet decided, why not take a look at some of our other reviews to help you make your decision?
